December 2025 Guestbook

Wrapped up 2025 by hosting my family! Andrew came at the beginning of December for the Valencia Marathon and then came back again for Christmas day to join my parents and Courtney for the holidays!

Andrew (and Nicholas)

During the marathon

Celebrating and exploring the city after the marathon

Andrew had so much fun running the Valencia Marathon last year that he decided to do it again, and this time he even recruited a friend to join him (Nicholas). Kevin and I met them in Valencia for the marathon where we enjoyed free marathon events, hung out with our old host brother, Alvaro, and his wife, Mireia, and ate some delicious paella. This year, we had a bit more time to explore the city outside of the marathon. The four of us trained back to Barcelona and Andrew and Nicholas spent a few days here. In Barcelona, we tried cocktails at Sips and introduced Andrew to calçots!

Mom, Dad, Andrew, and Courtney all made their way to Barcelona on Christmas day! Kevin and I had already traveled to the US a lot this year, so they decided to come to us. Unfortunately, there was a lot of rain during this visit (winter in Barcelona), but we also had some nice days and made the most of them. A lot of cooking was done during this visit; Kevin cooked roasted chicken and potatoes and cringle cookies the day after Christmas, and we helped my mom cook 80+ eggrolls and bò lúc lắc for my birthday. We found a halal carnisseria to buy beef tenderloin and it was delicious! We also took trips to all of the Asian grocery stores near us, took a Rick Steve audio guide tour through Eixample, did deadhangs at MakaMaka on my birthday, and took a day trip to Tarragona. Andrew and Courtney left for the US and my mom, dad, and I left for Italy on New Year's Eve. It was a really fun visit and it was nice having the whole family here!
